Marie Portales Rodriguez is a civil litigator. She practices primarily in the areas of guardianship, probate, estate planning and mental health law. She has held the Guardianship Attorney Ad Litem, State Bar of Texas certification since 2005, and in addition to representing private litigants, she is frequently appointed to conduct and/or prosecute complex guardianship investigations for courts. She also assists courts to ensure that governmental agencies charged with protecting the most vulnerable, disabled, or elderly citizens are properly represented and protected. In addition, Marie has held numerous leadership roles in the Texas Guardianship Association. This leadership, along with her considerable experience as a guardianship and probate litigator, have allowed her to testify to the Texas State Legislature about needed guardianship and specialty court reforms.
Rodriguez’s specialized areas of practice often intersect with goals and needs of varying groups and organizations. She is often a featured speaker for senior living communities, adult day habilitation/care providers, adult group home service providers, special needs/special education departments of school districts, financial planners and planning groups, area hospitals, geriatric health care practitioners and centers, and at behavioral health centers/psychiatric hospitals. She also exhibits at the Brazos Valley Senior Expo, the Texas Guardianship Association Annual Conference, and works with and speaks to the Mental Health & Mental Retardation Authority (MHMR) of Brazos Valley, The Texas Department of Adult Protective Services (APS), Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) and other disabled adult care groups or protective service providers.

She is Board Member of the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce and a member of its Community Outreach/Diversity Committee, a member of the Amigos del Valle de Brazos - a non-profit group for the advancement of Senior Citizens Groups and Services in Bryan, the National Health & Mental Alliance (NAMI) Brazos Valley, and she is an ambassador of Hospice Brazos Valley and of Scott & White Hospital. Rodriguez also served numerous years as member & event chair of the Junior League of Bryan/College Station, and is a former, multi-year board member of the Prenatal Clinic of Bryan/College Station.
